May 30, 2003

Didn't update at work today because I hate it when people are looking over my shoulder while I blog. "Other" coop came back to work today and we got through a lot of stuff. Actually with him around, we may get through the project a day earlier than I predicted which would mean Friday would be a screw around day. I'm not going out east though :( Yeah I'm sad, but what's the boss going to say? "Other" coop, you ain't going out east, Stu is going in your place? That's kind of cruel (even if I was benefiting). So alas it stands as BC and Alberta for me. 10 days until Alberta, I can hardly wait!

May 29, 2003

Time for a quick update, since I'm falling behind schedule at work right now (stupid french keyboards, they'll be the end of me). Anyways, in a conversation with the boss today, it looks like I might be heading out east in between my Alberta and BC trips. If the "other" coop doesn't show up very soon, he may lose his second trip (he's already lost Quebec). So that's about it for the update today, I'm falling behind schedule, but I'm also determined to work harder to get back ahead of schedule (my goal is to be 2 weeks ahead by tommrow and done my part of the project by next Friday (which would allow me a great deal of free time around here). It's nice to work for a company that rewards hard work.

May 28, 2003

Works going good today, I'm about 10 days ahead of schedule right now, which is good, but I'm not letting up. My goal is to have a months worth of work done by next week (hey, maybe that'll buy me the 2 weeks I need for a vacation so I can go to Cancun!...nah that's just wishfull thinking, but it doesn't hurt to try). Nothing funny is happening around here because I'm by myself. I've already vented everything I could about the "other" coop (who still isn't in, maybe he'll come in next week).

Jay game is tonight, anybody wanna go, $2 tickets, you know my cell number if you are interested in coming.

May 27, 2003

This is the first time since I got my new job that I've been able to blog from work twice in one day. I feel soo liberated. Now before you think that work is slowing down...it's not. There's still a lot of work to be done, and less time to do it. I'm just getting through things so quickly around here that I'm able to make some free time. I'm begining to like this job. Sure there's a ton of work, the pay isn't the best, I don't have a real desk, I'm barely doing any technical work right now (aside from configuring routers and doing installs on the micro pc's) but I like what I'm doing. Meh, nothing to bitch about today (prepare for tommrow's big rant because I just gave myself a reason to rant).

One month in and things look good. 2 weeks to Alberta, 4 to BC. 1 to SRL: Revenge!
Getting work done now that the "other" coop still hasn't shown his face around work (well he did come in last Thursday while I was getting lunch, so that counts for something I guess). Got time to blog since I'm so far ahead of scheudle on the project (ok, the real reason is the boss allowed wayyyy too much time between things so really I'm at a normal pace). Gonna try to get 8 shipments ready this afternoon, if I can get it done, great, it means I'll be on track to finish the work by next Friday (if all goes to plan). Of course what's going to happen is the other coop is going to come and cause everything to move around slower thus making himself look bad. The rumor mill has it that the boss isn't too happy with him and he's seen as blowing a huge opportunity to get ahead by not coming to work. Ahh well, let's hope this means good things for Stu (who only needs to do hard work to get ahead). That's it, I'm out.

Listed on BlogShares

There are some forces that are plotting against me using blog shares. Above is the button linking to the site. It sounds interesting, you trade vertual shares based on a blogs market value. Kinda like the old hollywood stock exchange. Of course getting this thing to work is another story altogether. It took them 2 days to send an email confirmation. Grr. Their servers are always slow. Double grr. And to top it off, when I tried to add their button to my blog, I found out blogger decided to save my old template as an active one that can't be published. Triple Grr. So that's why I had to put the button above. Hopefully blogger will fix this little problem of theirs.

May 25, 2003

Reading my blogs lately, I've noticed that I don't rant nearly as much as I should. I'm disappointed in myself to be honest with you all. I need to rant because that's what this blog was built on, ranting! But the problem is I have nothing to rant about! I guess I could start with my mini SRL rant. 1) I'm very disapointed with the lack of competition I've been getting in SRL league action lately. It seems that nobody even bothers to try and beat me anymore. I never get a bump from behind. I've forgotten what it's like to see somebody pass me and most importantly it's hard to get people to come out now that I'm so dominant (yes this is a cheesy attempt to get YOU the reader on the track).

And what really angers me is when I'm trying to blog, and somebody is trying to talk to me. Honestly mom, can't you see I'm doing something important. And what's with people bothering me when I'm viewing websites? Can't you see that I'm doing something. If it was a word document that I'm working on, nobody is anywhere to be found. If it's homework, there's never anybody with useful advice around me. But if I'm doing something I like then everybody and their mothers want a piece of good ole Stu. And this stupid MSN thing to. Why does everybody go online, just to be in away mode? WTF is up with that? If you are going to be online, either be there, or go offline. Come on people, use your fucking heads. And what about people that send me MSN messages to stugautz@hotmail.com and then go offline 2 minutes later? Is your life that fast moving that you couldn't spare 2 minutes to wait out my reply? Another thing about MSN that angers me is people that can't wait for me to finish typing a message. They'll see stu is typing a message at the bottom of the window, yet they'll still ask me why I haven't replied yet. IT'S BECAUSE I"M TYPING THE FUCKING MESSAGE YOU IDIOT! Or another great one is somebody sending me a message, me replying promptly, then sender disapeearing for 5 minutes without an explanation! JUST USE E-MAIL IF YOU DON"T WANT TO TALK! A lot of these people have worked there way to my blocked list, so if you see me online, you will know that you aren't one of them...yet (everybody gets blocked by Stu sooner or later).

So that's it for my manufactured rant. SRL action resumes next Monday, June 2nd with SRL: Revenge. So far the only confirmed entries are myself, Hairy Greek and Talon Boy. I'm just waiting for the word that DP and Boost Monkey (the SRL's 2nd and 3rd most active drivers after Stu) will confirm their entries. Hey professor, you have enough of a beating, or are you coming back for some more? Hopefully I'll have a digital camera by then to take some pics of SRL action. Until then, LATER!

Damm Senators, can't hold a lead. Went to Boston Pizza last night with Talon Boy to watch the game (well the last 2 periods at least). Game was pretty exciting and Hosa has to learn when you are 3 feet away from the net it's not a good idea to hold onto the puck. Just shoot and good things will happen. Ahh well, I had a steak last night and no I'm not afraid of mad cow disease. Personally I haven't ran into anybody yet that's worried about it, but I still have to show my support for the Canadian Beef farmers, they've provided me with many good steaks. I hope this causes a drop in the price of beef because I'd really love that (Mmmm bigger steaks for less price).

Tried to see Bruce Almighty last night but couldn't get a good show time (they were all sold out and we didn't feel like waiting). We'll head out tonight and watch it. I still haven't seen the Matrix 2 and I still have no intention of seeing it. It seems after the first round of hard core fans gave it great reviews, the casual viewer is begining to give the realistic review and it's not as good as some people make it out to be (yeah ZeroSignal you are one of them with an independent opinion).

I'll try to get commuting obersvations part 2 up next week followed by business travel obersvations in a few weeks. I wonder if I get net access when I'm in Alberta. Check that, I wonder if they even have net access in Alberta.

May 22, 2003

It's true, one man can do a simple task better than 2 coops. I'm living proof of that. Since the "other" coop left, things are going smoother around here, I'm showing up to work early, and most importantly, nobody is bother me at all. Just the kind of enviornment I need to work at my best. Most people would complain about being thrown in a corner of a warehouse, but I've noticed that without the constant fat chick employees talking, work is getting accomplished. Maybe that's what people need, not cubilces, but corners of warehouses where you have to walk 50 feet to see the next employee. And most importantly, NO TELEPHONE so I don't get stupid people calling me.

May 21, 2003

Turns out the "other" coop had a good reason for not coming into work yesterday. He got in a car accident so he won't be coming in at all this week. Lets all hope for a speedy recovery.

Now here are some oberservations from my first month of commuting to work:

1. 102.1 will ALWAYS play at least 1 U2 song and 1 pearl jam song during my time spent in a car.
2. People do NOT understand the concept of merging
3. Traffic reports RARELY mention the 407.
4. Rain adds 15 minutes to the drive.
5. I am the only good driver in the world.
6. 97.7 Will always play 1 AC/DC song during my drive home.
7. It is impossible NOT to hear 50 cent on 92.5
8. The Drive At 5 is the best part of my day.

May 20, 2003

It's 9:36am and I've managed to find a few spare minutes to blog. What I've been able to figure out from the 3 or 4 weeks that I've been a coop is the only time the boss comes down to my area to speak to me is when I'm late. The "other coop" shows an hour late and nobody has even asked me if he's alive. I'm begining to think that he's not gonna show up at all today and the boss is just checking to see if I would cover for him. Hmm, how do I pass a test like that? I know, avoid the boss at all costs!

May 19, 2003

Who's up for The Real Cancun? As part of being a loser, Boost Monkey has to pay for my viewing of the movie. For you see I beat down Boost Monkey at Formula Kartways. Not only did I lay a beating so bad, his grand children will be feeling it, but I won the race on a track I have never before run on. I defended my home turf away from invaders and made the most successful return ever to Formula Kartways. We will retire this track for another couple of months.

Boost Monkey - LOSER
DP - LOSER
Talon Boy - LOSER
The Professor - LOSER (a big one at that).
Sw0rdFish - not a loser, but didn't show up (he didn't say he was coming).
ME - WINNER!

Hairy Greek, Ultra Caker and Some French chick - they didn't even bother showing up because they knew I would beat their asses (french chick would get hit with a broom).

So that leaves me undefeated on the new track configuration at Formula Kartways. I haven't been beaten there since the leafs had a cup contending team (1967). That leaves me 1 for 1 in SRL grand slam races. I hold the Mr. T trophy for myself.

Next SRL event is 2 weeks from now, June 2 at ProKart again. SRL: Revenge. Talon, Boost Monkey, DP and The Professor are all scheduled for this event (me too of course). What will it bring us? Will anybody be able to beat me at Pro Kart? Can Ultra Caker actually show up? Alright, that's enough gloating for one night.

Another winner from tonight was Jason Spezza. He had a goal and an assist helping Ottawa beat New Jersey 2-1. What I can't figure out is how does a rookie score 21 points in 33 games and still not make the lineup? Man they should have brought this guy in sooner, he's amazying, and he's only going to get better!
So here's the current lineup for tonights race:

Me (duh).
Boost Monkey (notice how he's listed in second place?)
DP (well the key thing is he tried)
Talon Boy (Making his return to the track)
The Professor (Another former star making his return)
Hairy Greek (2 races in a row...a new record!)
UltraCaker (Now improving foriegn relations)
Some French Chick (Dunno where she came from, but she's always around Ultra Caker)

So as you can see, it'll be a full house tonight. What will tonights race bring? Who will be the first grand slam champion ever? And will Hairy Greek get lost on the way to the track again (yes). All this and more tonight on SRL: Back In The Hood!

Could this be the site for the Canada Day spectacular?
Alright after some discussions with the racers it looks like the pre race hooters is cancelled. Instead we got post race Boston Pizza. So everybody meet up at the track at 7:45 tonight for the inagural SRL grand slam race.

May 18, 2003

SRL: Back In The Hood is just one day away. I'm going to do some endurance training (no not the whacking off Boost Monkey is doing to strengthen his wrists so he can have total control over his steering wheel). I'm going blading around the neighbourhood to build up some leg strength.

With the race so close to starting, I can honestly say that this is by far and away the most anticipated race. With a lineup of 5 drivers including myself, Boost Monkey, DP, The Professor and TalonBoy we'll have enough people for the discount! Man I am so ready for this race. The inagural grand slam race adds extra importance to it. I have to win the first grand slam race (for a series I created). Can you imagine somebody like Boost Monkey who's never won anything before being able to stake claim to being the first ever grand slam champion?

One thing this race doesn't have yet is tradition. I'm sure stuff like the pre race hooters, and the post race strip club (hmm that's an idea, winner gets a free lap dance!)

May 17, 2003

Well now that we are less than 2 days away from Victoria Day Madness/SRL: Back In The Hood it's time I sweeten the pot.

1) There will be a pre race drivers meeting at hooters. If you are coming, it is expected you show up (I was thinking of a post race hooters too, but I don't think the gasoline smell on my clothes would work well there...although if demand is there, I can change).

2) This will be one of the 4 grand slam races in the SRL calender. The other 3 are: November 10th (it falls on a Monday this year). August long weekend. And July 13, the anniversary of the first SRL trip to Formula Kartways. These are what from here on will be called the big 4 races.

3) The winner of the race will receive some kind of object that will act as the championship trophy (too be decided).

That is all for now. I will add more when I think of it. Oh yeah, race time is 8pm at Formula Kartways (if you didn't already know that, then you shouldn't bother showing up).
Just did a soulmate calculator. It seems I'll have to meet 11,860,298 American women between the ages of 18-24 before I find my soulmate. I like those odds!

May 15, 2003

Well if you guys want, visit Hairy Nipples site! A must read!

Now on to real business. Monday is SRL: Back in the hood. Some people are calling it Victoria Day Masacare. Whatever you wanna call it, know this, I'm out for revenge on my home track. I haven't won there in a long time. So what if I've won so many times before that I've stopped counting. When you got the homecoming race, it's always extra special. Anyway you cut it, it's going to be one heck of a race Monday. The hype is already begining.
It was bound to happen. After posting a postive traffic review of the 407 I got nailed 2 days in a row with horrible traffic. Stuipd 401 drivers think that since their highway is full they can come drive with me. Those guys caused me to be a combied 25 minutes late to work in the last 2 days! FUCKERS FUCKERS FUCKERS!

Went to see a jay game yesterday. $2 admission, can't beat that anywhere. The $3.75 hot dogs are amazying.

A special shout out to my newest favorite reader, Hairy Nipples! Hey man, as soon as I get around to it, you'll be #1 on my sidebar of links (SOL).

May 13, 2003

Left work early today and saved 10 minutes on the drive home. If I am able to leave the office before 5pm, then I can beat the traffic crawl when people are forced to merge on the 407. Thus the highway doesn't slow down and I can keep flying by at 120 all the way home! Yup, it's good to take the 407. But what I get more than anything else is: how can you pay for it?

Simple I reply: I don't actually do any work the first 1/2 hour of my day. That gives me $6 which is enough to get me from Hwy 10 to Jane and Weston Road to Hwy 10 on the 407. You see, simple math works!
This link is for Yan and his Real Cancun request. Make sure you have MIRC installed and set it to recieve files. Go to the first bot available with the movie, click on it. Connect to the server then press ctrl-v in the window to paste the file request command (it copied it automatically when you pressed the link). The BOOM! the movie should download. I'm gettin 77k/sec right now.

May 12, 2003

Hmm, I might have to replace my focus with a new one
The matrix comes out this week, but I might be the only blog on earth that couldn't care less about that stinkin movie. Hmm, maybe I'm the only one that realized it sucked ass. Check that, I AM the only one that realized the first movie was a huge bore. But of course going against the grain isn't cool...or is it? Since so many people like the matrix, I'll be cool and dislike the matrix. That'll seperate me from the rest of the bunch. Yeah!

May 10, 2003

Hey, if I go to daily planet tonight, maybe I won't have to talk with females. Just use hand signals!
This just in, Boost Monkey is cheating on his girlfriend with...a fat chick? I'll let the conversation speak for itself:

Fixed my tagboard a bit. I changed the background color so it will suit the page a little bit better.

May 09, 2003

Posting later than normal, but I got reasons for that. I got my internet connection back at work today. Well sort of. I'm still connected on a stores network. So yeah, I send a request for a page to the store, the store sends it back to the head office (where I work) which sends it to an internet site. Internet site sends data reply to head office which routes it back to store, which then routes it back to my computer (at head office). So that's why I don't update at work.

Got paid today, damm taxes (since I don't have any returns to process, I can complain about them again! soo much for good will from the $2000 return).

We installed Red Hat 9 on my work desktop. Only problem we experienced was the lack of default NTFS mounting. I'm gonna fix that on Monday. Coop I'm working with showed me some good traits today, he actually read a newbies guide to linux BEFORE asking questions. Stuff like that goes a long way in my books.

May 08, 2003

Got off work early today because I showed up early. Meh, no biggie I guess. Traffic is soo much lighter at 4 than it is at 5, I wish I could get off at that time more often. Bah whatever. Should have gone to Ball Hockey but I'm home and it starts in 50 minutes. I guess I could go. Suprise the fuck out of the bosses too! Hmm that doesn't sound like too bad an idea. I gotta hound the bosses tommrow to get the gas mileage money back for driving from downtown to the head office.

The Toys R us store across from the Eaton Center is really nice on the inside. It's not like the others because it's a urban location so that means space is 1/4 of what it normally is spread across 2 levels. If you are in the area I recommend you go check it out!

Oh yeah, I also got a $2000 tax return in the mail today! Woohoo! Time to buy me a digital camera! I'm leaning towards the Canon A70. Unless somebody has a better suggestion for the $400-$500 range.

May 07, 2003

Wednesday is over (well the work part at least) and so far this week has gone pretty fast. Nothing special at work happend other than I realized how much easier it is to install Linux than XP (for note the n00b that tries to instal XP will be caught in an endless loop with that press any key to boot from the CD prompt that microsoft puts on...the other coop that works with me is living proof). I'm still waiting for my computer to be put back on the network at work. I need to do daytime updates of my blog (plus, it helps keep the other coop away from me).

Anyways tommrow I get to leave the house at 6:55am to go to the Toys R Us at Yonge and Queen. Yay I guess...nothing like morning traffic. Bah what the hell do I know, I've never driven that early in the morning before.
I'm trying to reach the biggest audience I can, so I'm spamming my auction.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers Concert with Queens of the Stone Age

Bid if you are interested.

May 06, 2003

Ok, my lineup to yesterday's race may have been a little off, but fear not, I got three quaters of it right. It turns out the Ultra Caker is trying to improve relations with the French (not the Quebec kind, the ones from France). So with that knowldege in hand, 7:55 rolls around and I'm still the only one at ProKart. Fear not though, 8pm (the supposed deadline for entries) comes by and Hairy Greek walks in the door! Yay I'm not alone.

8:05 and a special suprise appearance by Boost Monkey (I thought he was dead...really, I did).

8:15 and a very very late appearance by Dark Phoenix.

Sweet, now we can get back to racing. Pro Kart thought it a good idea to mix up the race order so that the SRL 4 do not race together (27 people in total showed up, a great turnout!). Practice session goes by and I felt alright. Qualifying was more of the same. I qualify 3rd in my grouping (14th overall I think?). Anyways, I look at the grid and realize that there is no way I'm going to win this race (there's an uber racer on the pole). So quietly I think to myself a 2nd place finish would be nice. Well guess what happens? I finish second!

Alright, semi-final race and I'm starting 2nd on the grid. Again there is another uber racer (i think this one was an employee) on the pole. If I can hold off the people behind me, I'll have enough points to make it to the final. Well boys and girls, I found a way to hold them off.

Final race came and went. I started 7th, and figured a 4th place finish would be good (again, 3 uber racers at the front, my goal was to be best of the rest). Well, at least I gained a posting (the guy infront spun out). So 6th place. Overall though, my points were enough to hold off the challenges of the lesser racers in SRL and I yet again won the SRL drivers title.

2 weeks from now we head back to where it all began, formula kartways for SRL: Back In The Hood! Don't ya dare miss it!

May 05, 2003

Well, seeing as I haven't heard from Boost Monkey, looks like we lost one racer. Talon Boy can't make it, and neither can The Professor. That leaves the count of racers at 2. But fear not as Hairy Greek and UltraCaker came to the rescue! Both of them confirmed their intent on racing tonight to bring the grand total to 4 racers! Our best turnout at ProKarts ever!

Dark Phoenix is out for revenge after last races let down. StuGautz looks to hold his title as ProKart champion. Ultra Caker and Hairy Greek look to upset any challengers on the track notorious for is short learning curve. Fun will be had that's for sure. But who will win? SRL: BACK AT WORK is on the air!
It's Monday and that means today is raceday!

SRL: Back to Work seems to have a full compliment of racers lined up. The Professor and DP are almost confirmed as well as Talon Boy. Boost Monkey and StuGautz as usual are going to be there. It looks to be a great night of racing.

May 04, 2003

OMG I think I'm going to be sick. See how we transform this girl from diva to average crack whore to fat crack whore. But hey, at least she still has her music and that'll take her a long way!
Yesterday we played roller hockey for 4 hours straight. Man we could have easily played longer had we still been able to stand up after all this. By the end our team had soo many blisters and splinters and just about any other injury that we had to stop. It was some real fun too because we defeated the infidels from Toronto! Drove them back to where they came from and they didn't like it one bit! I think they want a rematch next Saturday, but they may not have the pride to.

Oh yeah, don't go to Vinnies downtown. It sucks.

May 03, 2003

It's Saturday and I just realized I forgot to promote the latest SRL race: SRL: Now At Work.

When: Monday night, 8pm
Where: Prokart race track
Why: To defend my title
Who: SRL (confirmed entries are: Stu and Boost Monkey. DP and Talon Boy are listed as possible. The Professor is listed as questionable...hairy greek and ultra caker are listed as MIA).

Last time we went out to ProKart, Stu dominated action winning the final race and breaking the losing jinx. This time, DP wants revenge, and Boost Monkey just wants to win. With Talon Boy in the mix and the possibility of The Professor (and maybe even a suprise guest apearance by an old favorite) there should be plenty of SRL representatives on the track. Stay tuned to find out how the race plays out!

May 02, 2003

Cheap gas for ya!

You know you excuses are getting pathetic when you ask to go downstairs to get your bottle of water, and it's right next to you. Heh I've really adapted to this new office environment because nobody said anything to me. Meh, it's Friday I'm going out to see X2 tonight.

Bah, I'm out!

May 01, 2003

Hey ain't this weird? I'm blogging from work. That's one thing I've never done before (ok well one thing at this job at least). More keyboards are being dealt with and yes that means more stalling. On the plus side, I did manage to run away to update you guys. Well that's the end of my quick blog, I can't wait to go to BC!

Oh yeah, the guys here asked me if I wanted to play some ball hockey. Of course I said yes...I need some practice before Saturday's soon to be weekly event. Yes it's not roller hockey like the Saturday game, but it's exercise and a chance for me to demonstrate my skills while finding my shot (which I lost a while ago).

Xmen 2 comes out tommrow, I guess I'm gonna see that (It's TalonBoy's birthday so I'll end up paying for him). Haven't seen a movie in a while (think it's been about a month). So that'll be good to see, plus Boston Pizza won't be half bad either!
