Funny thing, while I was driving around today looking for a bathing suit they were asking questions from the Canadian Citizenship Exam. Nobody could get anything right. Here's a random sample of the questions they asked:

What were the first 4 provinces to join confederation?

How does the second verse of O Canada begin?

Before something is a law what is it called?

How many MP's are in the house of commons?

If you can not answer any of these questions, do not consider yourself Canadian, and picket the school board to teach more about Canadian history, because there are some serious problems (just for the record, none of the callers got the questions right, except for the third one).

Well, it's off to Cancun for me today...that means no updates to the site :( I know you guys and gals were just getting used to checking this site every day (and I know you have silently bookmarked it or made it your home page). I'll hopefully have many stories about Cancun. For those of you that will be down there (read hitmen and collectors) I'll be staying at Avalon Bay Cancun. I could post a link to the hotel, but that's a lot of effort and I just don't feel like doing it right now (wait until I start working again and need an excuse to kill time, then you'll see a whole bunch of links).

So for 3 nights (I'll have an update Monday evening when I get back, pending I'm not sick on Mexican tacos) have a nice Canada weekend. If you drink have a desginated driver, take a cab, use public transit, or stay the night (slip the bartender a $30 tip and you'll be suprised where he'll let you sleep in the bar). I don't want anything happening to my loyal reader (yes that was a singular, I'm still waiting for the second person).

LATER.

G-Town Thugh sent me this site about humping things. It's a great site if you just need a quick laugh.
Well, only one day left before I leave for Cancun....you guys think I should start packing? Any of you guys been down there before and can guide me to the good clubs? I heard Senor Frogs and Coco Bongo are good places to be at. I'll put up a detailed review of my trip on Tuesday (or at least what I remember of it). Sorry no digital camera unless you guys want to quickly donate one, in which case I'll gladly repay with pervert pics.

Bah, I was supposed to go golfing today but it seems every 5 minutes the weather rotates between it's sunny period and it's rainy period. WHAT AM I TO DO??? I'll sit it out for another hour and see what happens I guess. No car means I have no choice (untill my car returns that is)

Just a quick update, I added a webcounter in the bottom left corner of the page, so now we can track who visits my webpage and what OS/web browser they use. You can click on it if you want.
My prediction of a victory for Brazil was right (despit the fact that I would have rather been wrong on that one). It seemed for the parts I was watching (I was mixing the game with sleep) that Brazil had the better chances to score and just ssemed to control the game altogether better. Turkey didn't send enough men forward when they were trailing. I was hoping Rivaldo would get a beat down (see McSorley - Clark circa 1993) but this is soccer and something like that would never happen (I could see somebody faking an injury on their wrist after delivering punches).

Well, time for me to pack. I'm heading to Cancun on Friday for the long weekend. I'll bring back a sombrero to wear around while I shout phrases like "The Texans are comming".

Don't you guys ever wonder what happens after a tennis match? Because I know most of you have tuned out the game as soon as you see that it is tennis that you are watching. But hey, if we see more of this kinda stuff going on DURING and not after that games....I just may turn into a tennis fan.

Thanks to espn.com for the photo.
Good to see that Korea isn't going for the World Cup title! It just goes to show you that when goals scored against Korea count (like Germany's one goal) they are unable to beat their opponents. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of Germany by any stretch of the imagination, they are just the lesser of two evils. And congrats to Oliver Khan for only allowing 1 goal in the whole tournament!

Time is ticking away before tommrow's showdown between Brazil and Turkey, I still feel that Brazil will win that game, but Turkey has been gaining some momentum (if that is at all possible when you are just sitting around waiting for the game) and Ronlaldo doesn't seem like he is at 100%.

Of course, who can forget the first matchup between these two teams With the infamous Rivaldo incident I mean how can any person honestly cheer for a team that has a player that ADMITS he embellish's injuries.

And does anybody remember that the Turkish club (who might I add are composed of mainly Turkish players, unlike the import filled English and Italian clubs) Galatasaray won the 2000 UEFA cup? Go Turkey and avenge that loss to Brazil! And Rivaldo....watch your back if this were hockey, Wendel Clark would be out to make sure you were injured when that ball hit your nuts.

World Cup Rant: Well, we are already at the semis of the world cup and Italy is gone :( So is Portugal, England, Argentina, Spain and a bunch of other teams. Here are some random thoughts that I've observed during the world cup:

1. South Korea is damm lucky to still be here. 5 goals called back in 2 elimination games. Some may say the fix is in. I'll let FIFA bash their own referee's for that

2. How did Turkey make it this far???

3. What happend to all those Portuguese flags I saw during the first round? Oh I know, they ripped off the velcro patch and now it's a Brazil flag.

4. Go Germany (I have nothing to say about them other than the Americans outplayed them).

5a. Anybody like watching games at 2:30am? I do. Going to an English pub to watch the Brazil - England game was the best experience I had during the world cup. Would have been better had England won and last call been extended past 2am (what kind of game with English fans is it when they aren't allowed to drink DURING the game? How are we supposed to get post game riots?

5b. Krispy Kreme drive-thru is open 24 hours, but if you try to get a coffee and a doughnut at 3:30am, I strongly recommend you try to find a Tim Hortons or failing that a sewer, because that food is horrible during half time of the England-Brazil game. And the coffee has to be the absolute worst I've ever had.

6. 5:30am games sucked. No two ways about it. It's too early to wake up for, and it's too late to stay up all night to watch. WTF am I supposed to do???? Ahh well, those games are no more.

7. 7:30am games are OK. Well, since I commented about the other two start times, I guess I should comment about this one. These games were the ones to watch. Drinking coffee, watching soccer and still in my pajamas are a weird, but strangely good combo.

8. Thank god I'm not one of those guys that sell flags at street corners during the world cup. They must have taken a beating by not selling Italian flags (although they made a double profit with Portugal being eliminated so early)

9. To Luciano Gaucci, chairman of Perugia, I give you a pat on the back. Too often people do not put country ahead of business (and yes, his soccer team is a business, that's why he charges admission). Good work for showing some balls and pissing on political correctness.

10. Prediction? I'll take Germany over Brazil in the final. South Korea's clock will strike midnight and they won't have the ref's to bail them out this time. As for Turkey, they had a good run while it lasted, but there is no chance of them beating Brazil (sorry Tank).
Well boys and girls, this is my first try at creating a quick news site about what's going on in Stu's world. Hope you guys enjoy your stay and find it informative (yeah right) as I did. In the comming months you'll surely see some nice links, news, photos and maybe even insightful thoughts. But more often than anything else, you'll see rants. And some of the best known rants have come from my mouth.
